Anastasia-Erasmia Peponi (Stanford): Lived Aesthetics

This paper is an attempt to raise new questions regarding the elusive nature of aesthetic experience while pointing out its usually underestimated relationship with one’s lived experience at large. Unlike influential approaches in modern aesthetics, ancient texts often address the intersection between aesthetic and lived experience.

Anastasia-Erasmia Peponi works on ancient aesthetics. She has been especially interested in the Greek notions of aesthetic pleasure and aesthetic response as debated in poetic and philosophical texts. She discusses such issues in Frontiers of Pleasure: Models of Aesthetic Response in Archaic and Classical Greek Thought.
