Annual Webster Graduate Student Lecture by Carla Antonaccio (Duke): Hybrid Vigor? Artifacts and Transculturation in Antiquity

Join us at 5:00pm for light refreshments

The talk will examine hybrid artifacts and the permeability of things; challenging notions of originality and authenticity in Greek culture.

Carla Antonaccio was trained at Wellesley College and Princeton University; she has excavated in Greece, Cyprus and Sicily. Her interests are the Greek Iron Age and Archaic periods; the uses of the past, ancestors and ancestralizing practices; and material discourses of cultural and ethnic identity.
