This talk explores how Oedipus and Antigone have given voice to the politics of language, the politics of identity, and the politics of conflict in the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland over the course of the last century.

Isabelle Torrance is an Early Career Visiting Fellow at Stanford Department of Classics and Associate Professor and Research Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies, Aarhus University, Denmark. She specializes in Greek tragedy and its reception and has published books and articles on this subject.
