After reading Shelley Haley’s seminal (2009) “Be Not Afraid of the Dark: Critical Race Theory and Classical Studies,” participants will discuss the ways that critical race theory can alter the field of Classics. More broadly, attendees will consider the ways that Haley’s work inspires ethical engagement and responsible outreach in the academy.
