Grant Parker to deliver JP Sullivan Memorial Lecture at UC Santa Barbara

On Friday, April 28, Professor Grant Parker will deliver the JP Sullivan Memorial Lecture at UC Santa Barbara.  Professor Parker's talk, entitled "The art of darkness: how the Romans invented night," will explore the role of night in defining social boundaries and will examine how negative perceptions of night in Latin literature may have changed over time.  As a further element in his role as the Sullivan Lecturer, Professor Parker will lead a colloquium entitled "Sophocles on Robben Island."  To learn more about these events, please click here to visit the website of UCSB's Department of Classics.
