BA in Classics, Johns Hopkins University, 2024
Ankita is a PhD student on the Language and Literature track. She completed her BA in Classics at Johns Hopkins University with a minor in Art History. Her undergraduate thesis “Sniffing Out Difference: Recovering Olfactory Aspects of Roman Racecraft” explored the ways in which Romans conceptualized identity and created cultural hierarchies through scent— more specifically through the use of luxury perfumes and hygiene practices. Ankita’s research interests extend more broadly towards race and gender in Ancient Rome, artistic and material cultural exchange in the Ancient Mediterranean region, and classical reception.
