Bárbara Álvarez Rodríguez is a Clarin-COFUND postdoctoral researcher, specializing in Homeric poetry. Her interests include oral traditions, Greek philosophy, gender studies, and intercultural dialogue. Her current work investigates exclusion and marginalization within the tradition of Greek epic. Bárbara's postdoctoral research builds on her 2013 doctoral dissertation from the University of Oviedo (Spain), "Alterity in the Early Days of Western Culture: the Concept of "the Other" in the Iliad and the Odyssey." Her work at Stanford will be supervised by Richard Martin.
