Marcus Folch is an assistant professor at Columbia University. His research interests include Greek literature, philosophy and rhetoric, ancient literary and rhetorical theory, and ancient politics, performance, and gender.  Before teaching at Columbia (beginning in 2009), Marcus was a Lecturer in Classical Studies at the University of Richmond (2006-2007), before becoming Assistant Professor of Classical Studies, also at the University of Richmond (2007-2009).  His Stanford dissertation entitled, "Genre, Gender, and Performance in Plato's Laws" was advised by Andrea Nightingale, Anastasia-Erasmia Peponi, and Reviel Netz.
