Matt received his BA in Anthropology with High Honors from SUNY Binghamton in 2011 and a MA in Anthropology from Columbia University in 2014. After working in CRM and completing a Post-Bacc in Classical Languages at Georgetown University, Matt obtained a further MA in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies from Brandeis University in 2019. Matt's research interests include the archaeology of the Roman provinces, the civilian settlements of Roman forts, the effects of Roman imperialism, and a wider interest in archaeological theory. Matt has excavated in New York, New Mexico, Greece and Romania and has participated in the excavations at Halmyris, a late Roman fort in the Danube Delta, since 2014.
