Amphoras, Exchange, and the Agricultural Economy of the Knidia

The contributions to this special thematic issue of HEROM: Journal on Hellenistic and Roman Material Culture examine the economic development of the Knidian peninsula in southwest Anatolia through the lens of its distinctive transport amphoras. The production, distribution, and consumption of Knidian wine jars shed light on the interplay between external maritime connections and internal networks of settlement and agriculture, offering an opportunity to understand local and regional dynamics within the context of increasing cosmopolitanism of the Hellenistic and Roman eastern Mediterranean.
