Eligibility: Must be a matriculated Stanford undergraduate enrolled in CLASSICS 12L: Intermediate Latin: Greeks, Trojans, and Romans in the Bay of Naples in Winter Quarter 2019-20. Preference is given to declared Classics majors and minors. The program accommodates up to 12 students.

FAQs

  • Is there a language requirement?

Readings for the class will be in Latin. All instruction, tours, and activities will be in English.

  • I'm a sophomore; can I still apply?

Of course! Any Stanford undergraduate student who is enrolled in CLASSICS 12L in Winter Quarter 2019-20 can apply.

  • The trip conflicts with one of my final exams; can I still go?

It is your responsibility to consult with your instructors prior to the start of Winter Quarter to seek alternative arrangements. Please note that instructors are not obliged to re-arrange a final exam for an individual student.

  • I'm an international student. Can I still participate?

International students must check with Bechtel International Center whether or not their immigration status will allow them to participate in this program. It will be the students' responsibility to apply for any visa requirements, if needed.

  • Are there any program fees?

No, participants will not be charged a program fee. Flights, on-site transportation, room & board, museum and archaeological site entry tickets are all included. Students will be responsible for personal expenses (souvenirs, food/drinks/transportation that are separate from organized meals/tours, etc.).
