PhD Candidate, Ancient History
California State University, Los Angeles, 2018, MA in History

I am a first-year ancient history track PhD student. My primary interests are in slavery, gender relations, expressions of love, degrees of autonomy, and ethnic identities in the ancient Mediterranean. I am especially interested in the conditions of the Helots in Sparta. In 2016, I received my BA in history, with a concentration in ancient Mediterranean history, from the University of California, Riverside. In 2018, I obtained my MA in history, with a major concentration in ancient Mediterranean and a minor in world history, from California State University, Los Angeles. My current research goals are to engage in cross-cultural comparisons between the various slave systems in the ancient Mediterranean in order to both accommodate for the lack of sources and to gain a better understanding of the various roles slaves played, beyond their immediate labor.
